​With Sybille: Sjarmante vriendin (1968) – a virtually unkown translaton by the author Alba Bouwer – as a point of departure, Lizelle Smit and Danie Stander will discuss Bouwer, etiquette literature and 'charm' as a prescript for acceptable Afrikaner femininity in the 1960s.

The talk will be held on Thursday 10 June at 13:00 in Room 229, Arts and Social Sciences Building.
