At the 11th annual SU conference on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), three academics of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences were awarded the prize for Best Research Paper.

Ms Samantha Adams, Industrial Psychology lecturer; Ms Magda Barnard, Programme Renewal Coordinator; and Prof Ronel du Preez, Vice-Dean: Teaching and Learning, won the award for their paper on: Gamification for the win – or not? Evaluating student perceptions of a design-based gamification application.

The purpose of the conference, which took place in October, is to offer SU academics the opportunity to participate in conversations about teaching practices and philosophies. The theme of this year's conference was Academic Leadership.

The prize comprises financial support for the prize-winners to enable them to attend an international conference.
