The first Postdoctoral Conference of Southern Africa will be hosted by
Stellenbosch University in honour of the centenary of the
University 03-05 October 2018 in Stellenbosch (South Africa).
Although still being
young, postdoctoral research is becoming the main driving force of
internationally recognised research in South Africa and southern
Africa. Contributing significantly to undergraduate and graduate
teaching, postdoctoral research also holds the potential to connect
African students with international research and job opportunities,
advancing transformation and development.
The aim of the conference is to bring together young researchers from all fields of research to create an interdisciplinary forum and emphasize the importance of postdoctoral fellows to drive research for 100 years into the future.
The conference will feature 2 interdisciplinary workshops, 57 oral presentations and 9 posters
from all over South Africa and beyond. We made an effort to create meaningful themes for the oral sessions
which emphasise the multidisciplinary nature of the conference. Download the programme now!
A special feature of the conference is an interdisciplinary workshop on climate smart agriculture with prominent speakers, and a workshop on food security, find the announcement in the programme (also below). Note that attending the afternoon workshops is free of charge, but registration is required since attendance is limited.
