MoU’s are used to establish the basis for future research projects. They are binding agreements that agree on general clauses for future contracts, but generally without specifying payment terms or a contract amount. An MoU should be followed by a formal research agreement when the parties are ready to formally start collaboration or successfully obtained funding for their research activities.
