#Stovesfor10Towns
A community initiative that aims to sustainably equip disadvantaged families with clean cook stoves.
The Student Representative Council (SRC) of Stellenbosch University (SU) has launch a 67 day project in light of Mandela Month that will set out to provide for a cleaner, safer, healthier and cheaper way of cooking in disadvantaged communities in the broader Stellenbosch region.
In winter thousands of communities have lost their families and belongings after devastating fires spread through their homes. The stoves replace cooking using paraffin stoves or cooking on open fires which in the Western Cape winter months has been a great contributing cause of fires. The #Stovesfor10Towns initiative aims to reduce the lost by sustainably equipping disadvantaged families with clean cook stoves.
You can help us make a difference by donating a stove to a deserving family. Donor(s) can team up with their friends or family (a group of 4 or 6), and make a difference. If you decide to make a difference, you stand a chance of winning Rocking the Daisies passes, exclusive restaurant vouchers, wine and wine tastings at elite wine farms. The grand prize, the finest wine estate venue and DJ for your next formal event.
