​The Department of Modern Foreign Languages invite all interested members of the university community and the public to an interesting research seminar. The talk will deal with Steffen Kopetzkyʼs Risiko (2015), Jakob Heinʼs Die Orient-Mission des Leutnant Stern (2018) and Kenah Cusanitʼs Babel (2019), three intriguing narrative experiments that (a) shed light on little known aspects of German engagement in the Middle East during the Great War, and (b) project today's concerns back onto a historical canvas, thus creating temporal third space in which the historical and the contemporary blend. Prof Florian Krobb is a Professor at Maynooth University and Extraordinary Professor at Stellenbosch University.
