Workshops put SU values into action and conduct
The values of Stellenbosch University (SU) relate to the beliefs and attitudes that guide our behaviour. It provides the golden standard for the kind of community we aspire to be. Therefore, these values – excellence, compassion, equity, respect and accountability – need to become part of how we act, make decisions and deal with ethical challenges.
The University's Values in Action (ViA) practical workshops aim to equip staff and students to embody values-driven behaviour and leadership.
Themes and skills
The basic ViA workshop will enable participants to develop a common understanding of the kind of university community we strive to be and acquire skills to manage possible values conflicts.
The following themes are covered during the workshop:
• The meaning of values;
• Values conflicts and how to resolve these;
• How to integrate values in how we behave and relate to others; and
• The integration of values through leadership and teamwork.
All SU staff from all the campuses are invited to join this journey by attending one of these full-day workshops. Open workshops are available for staff across the University – this enables interaction between diverse individuals from various environments.
