1992:            PhD (Dr.-Ing.) on Solar Thermal Energy Storage Systems for CSP plants

1991:            Employed by RWE (German utility) in various positions, including Head of Research &

        Development for optimization of fossil fired power stations

2008:             Head of Solar at RWE Innogy, Germany.

2009:             Technical director of “Andasol 3” (50 MW CSP plant in Spain) during construction and

         operation phase. 

2013 to 2017: Eskom Chair in CSP and headed the Solar Thermal Energy Research Group

    (STERG) at Stellenbosch University (SUN) including a laboratory for solar

    applications

Since 2017:     Director Strategy and CSP expert at Fraunhofer Chile Research Center for Solar

    Energy Technologies (FCR-CSET)

Since 2017:     Extraordinary Prof at SUN
