Dr Katumanga obtained his PhD
(Political Science) from l’Université de Pau Et des Pays de L’Adour (UPPA) France in 2002. He holds the position of Senior Lecturer at the
Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of
Nairobi where he lectures political theory, security and strategic studies. He
equally lectures at the National
Defense College (NDC) of the Kenyan Armed Forces. His expertise in security issues has seen him design programs and
frameworks such as the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD/ICPAT)
and Capacity Building Program Against Terrorism (ICPAT)’s Security Strategy
Program. He also contributes to the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA),
USAID, NORAD, EASFCOM, DFID, SIDA, UN-International Conference–Great Lakes
Region-IC/GLR. He is a Research Fellow of the Les Afrique
dans le Monde (LAM-UPPA) in France and undertook research work and fellowships
with the Institute of French Research in Africa (IFRA), Institute of Policy
Analysis and Research (IPAR) and the Development Policy Management Forum (DPMF)
in Nairobi. His last co–authored book examines challenges
of organic and organized violence in Kenya ongoing research of his examines the
underdevelopment -insecurity nexus and potential for state viability.
