In line with Africa Day which is on 25 May, Stellenbosch University celebrates the event through various events and opinion pieces published around this date. 

During the Africa week, the Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wim de Villiers hosted the Annual Africa Day Lecture on 31 May 2022, During the event, Dr. Chidi Chike Achebe, a physician executive, presented the lecture with the topic “Intellectuals as Nation Builders".  The event was coordinated jointly by the Centre for the Study of the Afterlife of Violence and the Reparative Quest and the Centre for Collaboration in Africa​​.

In addition, the Tygerberg International (TI) at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) hosted an event on 25 May 2022 during which Dr John Mark Bwanika, a global eHealth scholar shared his experience in clinical research in infectious diseases, entrepreneurship, and eHealth with the topic "Technology and Innovations Advancing Health in Africa"​.

Experts at Stellenbosch University also publish opinion pieces for the media which focus on a few key issues that should be addressed to help Africa reach its full potential and become a global powerhouse. Click on the links below to read the articles.
