Quality Assurance

The quality management system provides for the regular evaluation of academic departments and professional academic support services according to a fixed cycle for quality assurance and enhancement. The system also provides for the periodic review and renewal of faculties, organisational structures, and academic programmes and qualifications, taking into account the scheduling of national reviews, and evaluations conducted by professional bodies.

Academic Planning

Academic planning supports and facilitates the planning, approval, accreditation and registration of new academic programmes and modules, as well as substantial changes to existing programmes in collaboration with academics, academic support services and other roleplayers and stakeholders (e.g. professional bodies). Academic Planning supports the maintenance of the University’s Programme and Qualification Mix (PQM) and adheres to the CHE Framework and Criteria for Programme Accreditation (2004) for undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.

Programme Review, Re-design and Renewal

Programme review, re-design and renewal are three interrelated parts of an integrated process of continuous quality enhancement of existing programmes and modules. Programme and module review focus on making informed curriculum decisions using available data. Programme and module re-design and renewal focus on re-designing the programme and enhancing the teaching, learning and assessment practices in collaboration with other Centres in DLTE.
