Education Library

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Education Library, Media Library and ISKEMUS (Information Centre for Children's and Youth Literature and Media of SU)

The Education Library is conveniently located in the GG Cillié building where the classes of the undergraduate and diploma programmes in education are presented. The location is wheel chair friendly. The main purpose of the Education Library is to support teaching, learning and researching by supplying the resources and media required for the programmes.  The staff members are responsible for professional assistance to all faculty undergraduate and diploma students. Postgraduate students can find assistance at the JS Gericke Library on campus. The Education Library is administered by the Department of Curriculum Studies. 



Access​Access control at th​e Education requires swiping a valid SU student card.

Study areas/ work spaces
Services Lending of books and other media for lesson preparation and projects (also available during school visits)
Laminating – A5 to A2 size
Internet and wireless access is available to Stellenbosch University staff and students registered on the University network.

Assistance with information queries and searches of relevant sources
Limited Stationary available, e.g. poster board, coloured paper
Borrowing Privileges

Undergraduate: Number of loans: 6 items

Borrowing period: 14 days per item

Post-graduate: Number of loans: 15 items

Borrowing period:  30 days per item

Renewals: 2 per item, unless item is requested. 

Renew online or enquire at the lending desk. 

Returns: To any of the libraries on Campus

Reserving books currently on loan: Free and unlimited. Reserve online or ask a staff member

Material available to borrow: All item types except where POLICY is indicated as “Not loanable"

Lost/damaged books: Replacement value payable to the Library and Information Service

Fines

Fines for overdue items: R1.00 per item per day

Fine limit: R30.00 (borrowing privileges will be suspended when this limit has been exceeded)​

South African school textbooks – Grade R - Grade 12
Picture Books Model school library collection with information presented at school level
Reference works
The ISKEMUS collection of children's and youth literature, including fiction and non‐fiction
Short Loans

Frequently used items

Loan period during library hours for use in the library: 3 hours

Loan period (outside library hours): overnight( out 30 min before closing time; back 30 min after opening)
