Join us as we reflect on the role men play in the fight against gender-based violence.
Dr Jill Ryan (gender non-violence coordinator at the Equality Unit) will be in conversation with Dr Shahieda Jansen (clinical psychologist and deputy director of academic services and ICT at UNISA), Mr Morne van Oordt (photographer of the #1000gbv portraits campaign and creative director at ASIC Media), and Dr Robert Morrell (senior research scholar in the Centre for Higher Education Development at UCT).
Reflections will highlight where men position themselves in GBV, the role culture plays, perceptions of masculinity, stigma around men as victims, naming and shaming, fear of being labelled a perpetrator, and providing safe and healing spaces for men to talk about GBV.
