Prospective students, their parents and guardians as well as other interested individuals can expect to access a wealth of information during the very first online Stellenbosch University (SU) Open Day, which will go live on Saturday 17 April 2021 from 09:00 to 14:00.
The event offers the perfect opportunity for Grade 12s to obtain information on study opportunities, financial assistance, accommodation and student life.
The move to cyberspace is in line with the University's commitment to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols. “The Open Day webpage will have virtual stalls where learners and parents can tune in for information sessions, download brochures and documents, and interact with an advisor," says Michelle Swart, marketing and media officer at SU's Centre for Student Recruitment and Career Advice. SU's customer service agents will also be available for live chats on the webpage between 09:00 and 14:00.
Important information will be shared on how to apply for an SU programme, available funding options, career advice and student support (including for students with special learning needs). Yet those who cannot tune in on Saturday will not miss out. “Don't worry if you are unable to attend on the day itself. The webpage with all the exhibits and information sessions will remain accessible until 31 July," adds Swart.
Student Recruitment and Career Advice is very excited at the prospect of more people gaining access to the Open Day because of its online format. “This will also allow the event to have a 'national footprint'," Swart says. “In the past, we primarily focused on the Western Cape. Most of the parents and learners from other provinces could not attend. Now, anyone can access it, from anywhere, at any time, even afterwards."
