Earlier this year, the Rector's Management team appointed a task team to investigate rape culture at Stellenbosch University.

The Task Team on Rape Culture, chaired by Dr Birgit Schreiber, Senior Director: Student Affairs, met for the first time in March to determine the extent of this challenge at the University. During the firsts meetings practices perpetuating rape culture at the University were identified and ideas on how to address these practices are currently being discussed.

In order to get as much information, feedback, and ideas as possible, the Task Team would like to invite SU staff to a staff conversation on rape culture.

At the conversation the members of the Task Team will introduce themselves and share their understanding of the task, the terminology used, as well as some thoughts on the way forward.

"The aim of the discussion is also to listen to staff voices and to get as many recommendations, thoughts and ideas from staff members as possible," says Dr Shreiber.
