Bonhoeffer UnitIn September 2014 a Bonhoeffer Unit was established within the Beyers Naudé Centre for Public Theology. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was an influential German pastor, theologian and martyr who also had, and still have, a strong reception in church and theological circles in Southern Africa. From 30 September till 2 October 2015 this Bonhoeffer Unit hosted its first major event, a consultation on "Bonhoeffer and the Global South: Reception and Contemporary and Future Challenges."
Unit for Religion and Law

The Unit of Religion and Law is an inter-religious and
interdisciplinary research, teaching and service division of the
University of Stellenbosch which resides within the Faculty of Theology, under
management of the Beyers Naudé Centre for Public Theology. The general purpose of
the Unit is to identify, investigate, evaluate and analyze the issues of
academic and religious communities, legal and government institutions, through
day conferences, workshops, national and international conferences and
publications. The specific objectives of the Unit include amongst others to
undertake multi-religious and interdisciplinary-based project research on
matters relating to the relationship between religion and law, to make
available the results of the research and when requested to give advice to
academic and religious communities, and lastly, to facilitate
and promote cooperation regarding religion and law in South Africa through
national and international publications, interviews, conferences, symposia and
workshops. | Gender Unit

The official launch of the Gender Unit was in March 2017.
Through
the work of the Gender Unit, and in partnership with partners near and far,
the hope is to contribute to the formation of a
world where racism, sexism, homophobia and the dehumanizing reality of poverty
is no more by amongst others: (a) Raising funds for PhD
scholarships in order to give doctoral students the opportunity to continue
their research on Gender, Health and Theology and so helping to cultivate
thought leaders who can go back to their respective communities in order to
serve as agents of change and (b) Creating a community of
scholars who through their research contribute to the establishment of a centre
of excellence that contextually explains the intersection of Gender, Health and
the various sub-disciplines of Theology
