Rare Disease Genomics
February was chosen as Rare Disease Month, as it has a unique and "rare" number of days.
Rare Disease Day is celebrated internationally on the last day of February each year.
Our group hosts Rare Disease Awareness Month initiatives and Rare Disease Day at SUN and TBH each year. Additionally, we run a social media campaign every year, called #28DaysOfRare, to raise awareness of Rare Diseases in South Africa. Other activities include writing op-eds for the media and giving interviews on local radio and podcasts. All posts can be found @SuMBHG or @RareGenomicsRSA on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
