Matie Community Service (MGD) has a long-standing history of student volunteerism in the communities around the Stellenbosch and Tygerberg campuses. The primary functions of support from Social Impact ( MGD) are:

1. Awareness raising and invitation to volunteer through volunteer events ( community morning and Mandela day)
2. Project coordination and logistics
3. Facilitate the contact between the community/ organizations and students
4. Monitoring of projects
5. Training of students​
