INTERCULTURAL EVENTS in NEW YORK CITY: SEPT 21-22

There are two intercultural events happening in New York City on Sept 21-22 in conjunction with the UN Summit of the Future, organized by the UNESCO Chair on Intercultural Competence at Stellenbosch University in conjunction with New York University (host) and World Council on Intercultural and Global Competence, a global nonprofit partner of the UNESCO Chair. DAYS OF ACTION SIDE EVENT: UNESCO STORY CIRCLES TRAIN-THE-TRAINER EVENT ON SAT SEPT 21, 10 am - 12 noon


The UNESCO Chair on Intercultural Competence, in collaboration with New York University and the World Council on Intercultural and Global Competence will be organizing an official side event to the United Nations Summit on Sat Sept 21 from 10 am - 12 noon at NYU (Room C06, 383 Lafayette St.) - the event will be an in-person UNESCO Story Circles Experience.  Sign up below to participate in this intercultural methodology that has been used successfully with many different groups around the world to develop and practice key intercultural competencies such as listening for understanding (instead of the more typical listening for response). Available in an open access Manual for Developing Intercultural Competence: Story Circles in 6+ languages.  This event will be facilitated by the author of the manual, Dr. Darla K. Deardorff, UNESCO Chair on Intercultural Competence at Stellenbosch University at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.  

Note: It is very important to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the event and to stay for the entire time.

INTERCULTURAL MEET UP ON SEPT 22  For those interested in connecting in-person with colleagues through the World Council on Intercultural and Global Competence and beyond, including any colleagues interested in connecting around intercultural/global competence (research AND practice) and/or with the UNESCO Chairholder on Intercultural Competence, there will be an informal meet up on Sunday afternoon, Sept 22 at Park South Hotel lobby (124 E 28th St).
