Stellenbosch University (SU) offers students a wide range of undergraduate programmes across its 10 faculties: AgriSciences, Arts and Social Sciences, Economic and Management Sciences, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine and Health Sciences, Military Science, Science, and Theology.

Currently, 81% of all international students enrolled for undergraduate studies at SU come from 26 other countries on the African continent. Of these students, the top five groups are from Zimbabwe, Namibia (collectively combining 77% of the students), with 12% of the students from, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Kenya and Tanzania. The balance of the students are from countries such as Iswatini, Malawi, Nigeria, Uganda (to name but a few).

Though travelling across Africa to study in a new country is a thrilling experience, it comes with a unique set of needs for international students. To cater to this, the SU International office is there every step of the way to help make students' transition into their new environment as trouble-free as possible. Services include supporting students with immigration, health cover, finances and accommodation, as well as integrating them to life on campus through an orientation programme at the start of each semester, and platforms such as Matie Buddy, the International Student Organisation of Stellenbosch (ISOS) and the African Students Board (ASB).

A Matie Buddy is a local student who will make contact with a prospective student before their arrival in Stellenbosch and provide them with all the necessary information to settle into life at SU, whereas the ASB is specifically aimed at creating a special community for students from the continent. Besides offering campus assistance and orientation to prospective and current students, it offers fun excursions and events throughout the academic year to help students network, engage on critical topics, and celebrate Africa's diverse and vibrant culture.
