Maties among SA’s young trailblazers

Three current and five former Maties are among the 200 notable South Africans under the age of 35 featuring in the Mail & Guardian's annual edition of '200 Young South Africans' who have made their mark in areas such education, health, arts and entertainment, justice and law, and politics and sport.

Research should promote social justice, human dignity

This was one of the key messages of Prof Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela,Research Chair for Historical Trauma and Transformation at Stellenbosch University (SU) when she delivered the third Stellenbosch Forum Lecture of 2019 at the SU Museum. Women’s Advancement Forum: International Exchanges, Research & Academia 

The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in collaboration with the Pan-African Network for the Popularization of Science & Technology and Science Communication in Africa, plans to host a three - day workshop which will bring together at least 150 women in STEM academia and research.

The evaluation and rating of individuals is based primarily on the quality of the research outputs in the recent past. “Recent”, in the context of the NRF evaluation and rating system, means outputs of the past eight years. The next round for NRF rating will open in September 2019 and refers to outputs between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2019. The evaluation is undertaken by national and international reviewers who are requested to critically scrutinize the research completed during the assessment period.
