Overview

The SU Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences can only train a limited number of students in available Supernumerary Registrar programmes (unpaid medical Registrar). This is a full-time degree available to non-South African residents .


Registration dates: January and July annually 

Application Process

  1. Contact the selected academic department directly. Contact details can be found on page 135 – 155 and 217 – 265 of the yearbook.
  2. Send a copy of your:
    • CV​
    • Academic transcripts
    • Degree certificates
    • Proof of financial sponsorship for your training 
    • Upon approval by the Department/Division, you will be referred back to the Tygerberg International Office to assist you with the application process. 
  3. Apply on the SUNStudent: https://student.sun.ac.za/signup/​ ​: 
    • Select your programme
    • ​Upload all required documents
    • Once accepted by the d​epartment, share your application number ( App) with the TI Postgraduate Coordinator

Admission and Registration Requirements

  • Have a basic medical degree for a minimum of two years
  • Verification of Credentials at the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates International Credential Services (EICS)
  • Register at the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
  • Registration at the Department of Health's Foreign Work Force Management Programme (DOH's FWMP)
  • Be registered as a postgraduate student at Stellenbosch University
