About Legal Compliance​

Over the past few years, legal compliance as it relates to overall governance in higher education has become increasingly important. In fact, at Stellenbosch University, Compliance has been made a key development area. In this regard, a Compliance Officer was appointed.

The current approach is to ensure compliance through the legal advice and support that we provide, as well as formalising the Compliance Function. In this way, Legal Services is striving to establish an independent compliance function.

Governance, risk management and compliance, or GRC, refers to the complex set of processes, rules, tools and systems used by the institution to adopt, implement and monitor an integrated approach to problems in this case specifically for the University​.
