About Capri
Capri is the newest co-ed addition to the PSO structure of Stellenbosch University. Established in 2018, we began
with 12 house committee members, 24 mentors and 250
newcomers. Today we have 11 house committee members, 13 seniors committee members,
23 mentors and have grown to 1812 members. As the new
kids on the block, our vision is to make
our campus a more open and accepting space to allow
innovation through diversity within our
interconnected spheres.
Capri's vision and mission
Capri strives to be a community that creates a sense
of belonging where everyone is comfortable to
express themselves, their values, and perspectives. Additionally, we are
committed to providing opportunities to
make meaningful connections within
the broader community. We aim to foster strong leaders by offering a large variety of
leadership development opportunities and co-curricular activities while striving
for innovation through diverse collaboration. All of this allows each individual in our community to
broaden their horizons to become global citizens who can make a positive impact in society.
Capri's values
Innovation: Creating new ideas to distinguish us from the rest of Campus. Capri takes pride in our ability to adjust our thinking and to merge that with the values of SU, being able to adjust to change. Keeping traditions that are beneficial to the community and changing those that cause harm.
Ubuntu: I am because we are. Capri is a diverse PSO, filled with people of various backgrounds, personalities, orientations, religions and ethnicities, each with a unique perspective and bringing something different and valuable to the table. We promote understanding and compassion to encourage togetherness.
Trots: At Capri we encourage our members to take pride in the good. Having pride in themselves and in Capri. To always strive to be better. Creating those "Hoendervleis-oomblikke" (goosebumps moment).
The history of Capri
Capri PSO, established in 2018, is the youngest PSO on campus bringing new and innovative perspectives to the broader campus community.
Mentorship offered by Capri
We currently have 17 mentors that are chosen for their ability to empathise, lead and support our newcomers through their journey at Stellenbosch University. Their role is to guide our newcomers and ease the transition into university life, especially during Welcoming Week.
