Investigating cooling performance and energy utilization of refrigerated shipping container packed with fresh fruit using computational fluid dynamics modelling​

In this dissertation, a computational fluid dynamics model that is capable of predicting airflow
distribution and the energy consumption of a fresh fruit refrigerated shipping container was
developed and validated. The experimentally validated model was used to evaluate
operational and design parameters that affect cooling operation and energy utilization during
fresh fruit transportation. The results revealed the significance of container operational and
design parameters in maintaining the cold chain and reducing energy wastage. The research
approach provides a valuable framework for analyzing the cooling performance of a wide
range of horticultural products and refrigerated transport.​
