Dr Sarah Pugh

Sarah is a Research Fellow with the Centre for International and Comparative Politics at Stellenbosch University. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Sarah comes from a background of international development, migration, gender and health.  She worked for several years in Vancouver, Canada at a provincial health care network, before pursuing a migration and development-focused PhD in International Development and Political Science through the University of Guelph, in Ontario, Canada.  From 2014-2016, Sarah held a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Political Science at Stellenbosch University, exploring the interconnections between migration, development, and health.  She has since worked independently on various policy, research and evaluation projects for a range of local and international non-profit and multilateral organizations, such as the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town, the Afghanistan Public Policy Research Organization, the United Nations Development Program, and the International Catholic Migration Commission.  She also works as Managing Editor for the UK-based journal Reproductive Health Matters.
