The Finalejaars 1,2 Give programme is an initiative centered around the university's final year students, aimed at fostering a culture of giving back to SU as students, and ultimately as alumni (once they have gained their qualifications and left the insitutiton).
The programme asks final year students – during the course the year – to make a small, symbolic cash donation to the project. The aim is to foster the notion that giving back to SU is something that makes an immense difference to the university's institutional positioning and, more importantly, forms a crucial part of the culture of being a Stellenbosch University alumnus.
The funds raised by the initiative are given to the SU Bursary Fund, and used to help fund students who cannot necessarily afford an education at the university otherwise, allowing them to pursue further studies here at Stellenbosch.
In this sense, it becomes more than a symbolic gesture of gratitude and commitment to the university as an alumnus, but also a commitment to giving back in order for others to be able to receive the privilege of the similar world class tertiary education.
These various specific Finalejaars 1,2 Give initiatives will be organised throughout the year along with creating that active presence at other events on the student calendar throughout the year.
Be part of something significant, make your presence felt – give.
