The first Stellenbosch University (SU) Faculty of Science Postgraduate Research conference will take place on 24 November 2022 in the JC Smuts Building on the Stellenbosch University Campus.

Purpose: The purpose of the conference is to provide a platform for MSc and PhD students to present their research to a wider audience, thereby honing their presentation skills, and to advertise the postgraduate research done in the Faculty to staff, stakeholders, industry partners, undergraduate and Honors students. There will also be a plenary session aimed at providing students with information on opportunities after the completion of their studies. The conference will be followed by a cocktail event.

Format: The format of the conference will be two parallel sessions, one for the Biological and one for the Physical and Mathematical Sciences, each with 23 slots for 20-minute oral presentations.  Poster sessions will run in parallel with tea breaks and lunch and 15-20 posters can be accommodated.

Submissions for presentations: As there are a limited number of slots, presentations will be screened and selected. Successful oral and poster submissions will be informed by 24 October 2022.  At this point further information on the format of the oral presentations and dimensions of the posters will be provided.  The closure date for submissions is 14 October 2022.

Attendance:  In person attendance will be limited to MSc students, PhD students, staff, stakeholders and industry partners.  As there are a limited number of places, this will be done on a first come-first-serve basis.  Online attendance is open to all, but registration is required.
