Maties Sport is hosting an online gaming challenge comprising E-Sports and Chess during the month of April. These contests are open to all members of the Stellenbosch University community – including students and staff – and entry is free. Prizes will also be on offer, and the full details are as follows:
E-SPORTS:
There are three available contests (all to be played online):
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (1v1 contest on PC)
- Dates: 10-11 April 2021
- 10am to 4pm daily
FIFA21 (1v1 contest on PS4 consoles)
- Dates: 17-18 April 2021
- 10am to 4pm daily
League of Legends (5v5 team contest on PC)
- Dates: 10,11,17,18 April 2021
- Full day availability needed

CHESS:
This is a team-based online competition played in a blitz format (5 minutes per side with 3 seconds added per move). Each team will contain four players, and participants have the option of entering a full team or to be allocated into a team if entering as an individual.
Weekend 1: 10-11 April 2021 – Preliminary 7-Round Swiss Tournament
Weekend 2: 17-18 April 2021 – Finals Weekend Knockout Competition for Top Teams
Selected matches will be streamed online.
