The Library and Information Service of Stellenbosch University (SU) continues to make big strides both locally and internationally. The Senior Director, Ms Ellen Tise, will be a panellist in a United Nations (UN) Library webinar while Ms Naomi Visser will co-present an Elsevier Library Connect webinar. Both presentations take place on Thursday, 13 August 2020 at 16:00 – 17:15 SAST.

Ms Tise's panel remarks will be on the role played by South African academic libraries in the fight against misinformation especially during the time of COVID-19. Ms Visser will share best practices on enabling uninterrupted access to research services and resources during the COVID-19 disruptions. Ms Tise will share the platform with other esteemed panellists, Ms Melissa Fleming (UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications), Dr Dilara Begum (Associate Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East-West University, Bangladesh), Mr Jonathan Hernández (Associate Researcher and Professor at the Library and Information Institute, National Autonomous University of Mexico) and Mr Stephen Wyber (Manager, Policy and Advocacy, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)). The UN Dag Hammarskjöld Library's Chief Librarian, Mr Thanos Giannakopoulos, will moderate.
