What are the course objectives?

Participants will be able to use Afrikaans in a functional manner. They will gain Afrikaans vocabulary for use in basic communication. This course is practical and interactive, and real life scenarios are incorporated to encourage the use of authentic language with a focus on all four language skills.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at members of the public. Non-mother tongue speakers of Afrikaans who would like to be able to converse in basic Afrikaans should register for this interactive language course.

Any prerequisites?

Participants should preferable have access to a computer for the online part of the course, as well as basic computer skills.

How is this course presented?

We present this course over a period of 8 weeks.

The face-to-face time includes authentic and interactive language use activities where participants get the opportunity to practise the target language in real life situations and also go on outings related to the theme of the week. This is supplemented by 2 hours of online support and activities every week.

Where will this course take place?

All sessions will be offered in Stellenbosch at the university campus.

What does the course cost?

The course cost is R4 000 per participant. This includes all course material, refreshments and outings in and around town.   

A Certificate of Competence will be awarded after successful completion of the course.
