Stellenbosch University's Centre for Learning Technologies (CLT) took the Siyanqoba Crèche, suited at the heart of Kayamandi, under its wing, back in 2016. The relationship has grown tremendously over the past three years and CLT has reached out to the children in a series of yearly events such as Valentine's Days, Mandela Days and Christmas parties.
The crèche looks after about 55 children and they not only get monthly supplies and stationery from CLT, but they also get a dose of love and care from the entire team.
To help formalise the administration of the crèche, CLT Operations Manager Ms Zainab Suliman assisted them with the design of a crèche logo. This new logo was added to the backpack each child received as a Christmas gift.
The Christmas season was celebrated with a carnival party on 3 December 2019 on a farm just outside Stellenbosch. The entire crèche and the teachers were treated with a fun filled day of face painting, balloon animals, a jumping castle, and of course, a Santa Clause delivering gifts.
