Thousands of prospective Maties and their parents visited the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences on SU's Open Day on Saturday (23 February) to find out more about career opportunities and courses.

The Faculty held 28 information sessions during the course of the day, with topics varying from an overview of what it has to offer, to a student's perspective, where senior students shared their experiences. Presentations on accountancy, economics, logistics, statistics, industrial psychology, sustainability and the world of business (including entrepreneurship, marketing and investment) were also given by the relevant departments and schools of the Faculty.

According to the Dean, Prof Ingrid Woolard, she was impressed by both the number of visitors and the informed questions asked at the end of her presentations. "We are really pleased about today's turnout."

Open Day visitors had the opportunity to visit more than 100 stalls where they could get useful information about careers, study choices, bursaries and accommodation.  These included the 10 academic faculties, the respective departments, the various SU support services, e.g Bursaries and Loans, Student Fees, Maties Sport and Academic Support, as well as Maties student bodies, e.g. the Student Representative Council (SRC), residences and societies.
