In ons vinnig bewegende en hoogs kompeterende wêreld is dit belangrik om jouself voordurend op hoogte van sake te hou oor die ontwikkelings in, en verloop van, jou bedryf. US se jaarlikse Wêreld van Werk-week is 'n loopbaangespreksgeleentheid waar jong alumni (onder die ouderdom van 35) ​kundige alumni en bedryfspioniers kan uitvra en uit hul menings leer.

Die Fakulteit Ekonomiese en Bestuurswetenskappe bied 'n aanlyn geleentheid, Career development and career growth: Winning strategies, aan as deel van die 2022 Wêreld van Werk-week. Dit vind op 2 Augustus om 18:00 plaas.

Die hoofsprekers is prof Rachel Jafta en me Terry Volkwyn.  Die bespreking word gefasiliteer deur me Karabo Mogashoa, voorsitter van die Ekonomiese en Bestuurswese Studentekomitee (EBSK).

​Meer oor prof Rachel Jafta

Rachel Jafta is a Professor in Economics at Stellenbosch University, specializing in Economics of Technological Change. She studied at the Universities of the Western Cape, UNISA and Stellenbosch in South Africa, Università degli Studi Luigi Bocconi in Milan, Italy, Harvard Business School and EUropass Language Academy in Florence, Italy.

She is a director of companies, Chair of Media24 and NaspersLabs, founder of the Media24 Rachel's Angels Mentorship Programme, the Cape Town Carnival and WeCode24, aimed at helping children in socio-economic hardship gain from digital technologies.

She serves on the Governance Committee of the Bureau for Economic Research, Naspers Foundry Advisory Board and the International Advisory Council, Fundação Dom Cabral Business School, Brazil.

Winner of the Woman of the Decade in the Media Award, Terry Volkwyn is the CEO of Primedia Broadcasting and the leading force behind Lead SA, an initiative that seeks to mobilise an active civil society.

Primedia Broadcasting owns four of South Africa's leading commercial stations: 947, 702, CapeTalk and KFM.

Under her leadership, the company integrated Eyewitness News (EWN), a relevant and leading news brand that serves all four stations and has an extensive digital footprint across South Africa. PrimeTalent, an internal talent management agency and Crime Line, the anonymous tip-off service, were also founded during her tenure. 

Terry currently serves on the Primedia Group executive committee and accepted an appointment to Kaya FM's board in 2009.

She is a previous recipient of the coveted Boss of the Year Award and is regarded as one of the most influential and powerful women in the media today.​


Meer oor me Karabo Mogashoa

Karabo Mogashoa is a 5th year BAccLLB student and is the Chairperson of the Economics and Management Student Committee (EBSK) for 2021/2022. Curiosity is in her nature and she d​​escribes herself as a puzzle-solver by trade. To her, a challenge is but a test – something to apply herself to as best as possible, with rigour, skill and critical thought. Alongside being chairperson of the EBSK, she also serves on the Executive Committee of the Academic Affairs Council and is an Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Candidate Fellow. She is a passionate leader who seeks to leverage communities by being inspirational, intentional and interesting.
