Science Twitter Masterclass

“If Twitter were a place… it'd be a giant coffee lounge full of science enthusiasts just like you. Used properly, a Twitter network can broaden/change/improve your scientific thinking." (Beth Kenkel Nature)

Once you master a few skills, Twitter can be an ideal tool to discover new research relevant to your own work, network with other scientists and share your own research outputs. During this hands-on, half-day workshop, the academic benefits of 'Science Twitter' will be explored and students will be helped in making the most of their tweets. The workshop is aimed at Twitter beginners (or those who are keen to find out more), but students must at least be signed up (i.e. you must have a working Twitter account) before you come to the workshop. Start here if you need help.

This workshop is presented by Dr Marina Joubert, a science communication expert and researcher at the Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST) at Stellenbosch University. In addition to the practical training, she will also introduce you to a few easy-to-use tools to manage and track Twitter, adding even more value to this social media platform.
