Telematic Services manages a technology platform that integrates satellite technology. The on-campus studio broadcasts to learning centres situated all over Southern Africa and livestreams across the world.
Telematic Services has four high-speed DVD burners, with the capacity to duplicate 33 DVDs every eight minutes. DVDs have a maximum capacity of 4-hours of high quality video recordings.
Telematic Services has a dedicated room the can be booked for online meetings. The capacity is a naximum of 20 people, and bookings can be made online here.
Telematic Services, as part of the Centre for Learning Technologies, has a mobile camera unit for the recording of any event that a lecturer would like to use within the teaching and learning environment as a clip during a satellite broadcast.
The multimedia advisor provides support to lecturers who wish to enhance the richness of the content of programmes by creating effective virtual learning spaces and incorporating graphic design for more learner-friendly material.
The pervasiveness of the Internet and the availability of new technologies make the streaming of interactive lectures/ conferences/tutorials a very attractive option. Streaming can be arranged on location or from inside the Centre for Learning Technologies.
