Face-to-face engagement (F2F)
Recruitment objectives met:
- Exposing learners to possibilities by removing limiting assumptions.
- Informing prospective students of the application process and deadlines.
- Maintaining and strengthening relationships with feeder schools.
- Positioning SU as an institution of choice in the higher education space.
Activities: Attraction phase (first engagement – SUSPECT)
The Centre has committed to journey with 500 schools in 2019! Through our school-based activities, we expose learners in targeted schools to SU's academic offering. The engagements are target-specific and aimed at impacting the recruitment pipeline from grade 9 to 12.
Western Cape:
January to March afforded us various opportunities to interact with educators, learners and parents within the basic education space at school visits and/or parent evenings.
For the first semester we focused on grade 12 learners (and their parents) as they kick-start the final year of their high school education. In addition to school-based presentations, we also participated in career exhibitions arranged by the Cape Careers Exhibition Association (CCEA).
Other provinces:
One of our strategic drives is to ensure that we have a national footprint. Our team of advisors visited KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg and Durban), Southern Cape (George and Oudtshoorn), Eastern Cape (Port-Elizabeth) as well as Gauteng (Johannesburg and Pretoria).
We are also committed to visiting schools in the Eastern Cape (East London), Mpumalanga and Limpopo during April and May.
