Evaluation takes a variety of forms including two oral examinations, project presentations, written exams, essays, project write-ups, book and paper reviews, a research paper, popular articles and research poster.

For successful completion of the honours course, students are required to successfully complete the compulsory generic skills module, three modules chosen from a list of modules on offer and a research project (an average of 50% must be obtained for the three modules and no module may be failed with less than 40%)

External Moderation: An External Examiner will moderate all components of the evaluation during this course. The External Examiner will moderate the test papers, the project proposal, the project manuscript and the final marks. The external examiner will participate in the final oral examination.

On completion of the course, students will not only have improved their knowledge base but also improved their research skills in Botany or Zoology.  You will also have gain confidence and will look forward in continue with post-graduate studies here or anywhere else. In addition, you will have enjoyed the opportunity of working in one of the most vibrant and dynamic research departments in Southern Africa, and shoulder rubbed with academics recognized internationally as outstanding specialists in their fields of research.
