The centre focuses on the following:

• Provision of a comprehensive service to prospective and current students, support and academic staff and the public stakeholders related to student and academic administration at the Faculty of Medicines and Health Sciences and Tygerberg Campus
• Implementation of the provisions of the SU Calendar, policies and procedures related to academic programmes of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS)
• Registration of students with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) ​and the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Secretariat of Standing Committees of the FMHS
• Planning of timetables, arranging examinations and tests
• Placement in residences at the Tygerberg Campus
• Recruitment, selection, admission and registration of FMHS students
• Organising the undergraduate pledge ​ceremonies
• Undergraduate bursary administration of FMHS students
• Administrative support to medical students of the Nelson Mandela- Fidel Castro Medical Programme
