Welcome to Stellenbosch University

Seminars

The Department has a long-established tradition of Friday seminars, which graduate students in particular are expected to attend, but are open to the entire university.  These relatively informal and lively Friday morning sessions have become popular opportunities for interaction with both visiting academics, diplomats, social activists and others involved in the sphere of politics.

Speakers who have participated in our Friday seminars in the past have included:

William Gumede, author of Thabo Mbeki and the Battle for the Soul of the ANC

Jonathan Shapiro, a.k.a cartoonist ZAPIRO

Paul Patin, United States Consulate in Cape Town

Nick Koornhof, Congress of the People

Helen Zille, Premier of the Western Cape
