​The Western Cape is experiencing a severe water crisis. Our main supply dam, the Theewaterskloof dam near Villiersdorp, is only 39% full, but only 29% of the water is extractable.

Stellenbosch University (SU) uses non-municipal water from dams, rivers and boreholes for irrigation purposes. This water is used in compliance with a strict quota system. 

We urge staff and students to all do their part and adhere to the category 3b water restrictions.
