The Media Office in the Corporate Communications Division will again this year presents its popular and free lunch hour media workshop for departments and other entities. 

“The workshop is an on-site, informal, hour-long discussion highlighting seven benefits of being available to the media along with seven ways in which the Media Office can support departments in this," says Mr Martin Viljoen, Manager: Media. "The workshop can be tailored to the needs of the specific department to, for example, incorporate a larger component of science communication or the use of social media." 

​According to Viljoen, research has shown that having a good media profile promotes your research profile. “Showcasing articles authored by SU staff or in which staff were used as experts – as well as radio and TV inserts – a picture of the media landscape is drawn and a brief explanation of how staff can use the media to increase exposure, is provided."
