​Stellenbosch University's (SU's) values provide the golden standard for the kind of community we aspire to be. This means the values need to become part of how we act, relate, make decisions and deal with ethical challenges.

The University's Values in Action project includes workshops that aim to equip staff and students to embody values-driven behaviour and leadership. There are different types of workshops, with the journey beginning with a basic values in action (ViA) workshop.

This basic workshop enables participants to develop a common understanding of the kind of university community we want to be and to acquire skills to manage possible values conflicts. The workshop covers themes such as the meaning of values, values conflicts and how to resolve them, and how to integrate values in how we behave and relate to others.

Although the basic one-day ViA workshop can be focused within a specific division, department or section at the University, there are also open workshops where the invitation extends across the University. This enables interaction between diverse individuals, residing in diverse environments.  

Only four more of these basic workshops will take place this year. The dates for the remainder of this year are: 

• 20, 21 and 22 June 2023
• 8 August 2023

Please note: There are limited seats available at all workshops. Staff members that sign up for a workshop and subsequently do not attend and/or do not complete the programme, will be held liable for the costs.
