The 28th Casual Day, as organised by the National Council of and for People with Disabilities (NCPD)
(https://casualday.co.za/2022-theme/) in South Africa, will take place on Friday 2 September 2022. The theme for 2022 is #ICelebrateSA!
In this post-Covid-19 pandemic time, we must contend with many challenges and hardships. Vulnerable people seem to be even more left to their own resources, which are already stretched to the limit. Those who are employed and coping are often called upon to assist their family members, friends and neighbours. Life can look very bleak if we only focus on what is going wrong.
However, the #ICelebrateSA theme allows us to look on the bright side of life in SA today. It gives us a chance to defocus on what is troubling and to look at what is also going well. We can seek inspiration and motivation from the existing light and find reasons to celebrate. Lest we forget, those celebrating today do so after hard work, effort, exercise, letdowns, failures, losing and hard study.
We can allow ourselves to pause for a moment to also celebrate achievements, no matter how small or large. The small victories actually lead to the larger ones in the future.
This year, we invite you to a virtual programme that does exactly that. We will celebrate the small and large victories of those that have conquered against all odds.
Come and listen to speakers, inter alia Michelle Nell and Nokuthula Yonke, whom we will engage about their reasons for celebrating their South Africanness.
As usual, we will be selling Casual Day stickers at R20 each. These can be obtained from Ms. Gugu at the Human Resources Division, Victoria Street, Administration Block C on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 09:00 until 15:00.
