The Research Alliance for Disaster and Risk Reduction (RADAR) is offering several 3-day accredited short courses in October and November. Choose from Disasters & Development (online), Community Risk Assessment (contact) or Introduction to Data and Research (blended). 

The Research Alliance for Disaster and Risk Reduction (RADAR) is offering several 3-day accredited short courses in October and November. Choose from Disasters & Development (online), Community Risk Assessment (contact) or Introduction to Data and Research (blended).

Disasters & Development (12 -14 October) 

This course introduces basic disaster risk management principles and concepts demonstrating the importance of risk reduction in development and planning. It focuses on strengthening disaster risk management in the African context, with an emphasis on mitigating urban risks.

 Community Risk Assessment (9 – 11 November) 

This course instructs participants in the skills and tools needed to undertake community-based risk assessments, particularly in disaster-prone informal settlements.

Introduction to Data & Research (16 -18 November) 

This course provides participants with foundational knowledge on the kinds of information available to assess disaster risk, where to find information and basic data, collection tools, incorporating practical exercises.

All courses are endorsed by the Disaster Management Institute of South Africa (DMISA). Successful participants can earn up to 5 CPD points.
