CEMIS and Sigla are cooperating to facilitate an online seminar on the South African Defence Budget. The seminar's opening speaker is Hon V.C Xaba, Chairperson of Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans. Other speakers are Dr N.M Taylor (Stellenbosch University) and Prof R. Ncwadi (Nelson Mandela University). Dr M. Khanyile (CEMIS) and Prof A. van Nieuwkerk (WITS University) serve as discussants. All members of parliament's defence committees as well as other interested Members of Parliament are invited to attend the Webinar and partake in subsequent discussions. The seminar serves as a precursor to parliamentary oversight of the defence budget to take place in May 2021.
