Invitation to Open Meeting re FMHS Tobacco-free Campus – 3 August 2018 (13h00-14h00)

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) of Stellenbosch University is committed to fostering a people-centred institutional culture that includes the advancement of health and wellness. It recognises a responsibility to provide a healthy and safe environment on campus to both its staff and students.

In essence, all FMHS endeavours are aimed at maintaining and promoting health, wellness and quality of life of all people. This includes the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, which entails not smoking or using tobacco or other drugs.

The FMHS prides itself in its staff and students being change agents in society. With this in mind, the Dean's Management Team, after consultation with the Faculty Board and approval of the Rector's Management Team, have decided to embark on a process to move the Faculty towards becoming a tobacco-free campus, with the implementation date set for 1 January 2019.

You are invited to an open meeting in the JN de Villiers boardroom on 3 August 2018 from 13h00-14h00 where the Dean will meet with staff and students to discuss the planned regulations for the tobacco-free campus.
