Engineering evening for Future Maties

The Centre for Student Recruitment and Career Advice (CSR) in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineer at Stellenbosch University (SU), hosted an information evening on Tuesday, 25 April, at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. Approximately 200 prospective engineering students, in grade 11 and 12, and their parents residing in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town attended the evening to find out more about possibilities within the Engineering discipline. 

The purpose of the evening was to put Engineering on the radar for top achieving students, and to make SU the first in terms of institution choice. "Student success is of great importance for the University, and evenings like this one ensure that students make informed decisions" said Magdel Pretorius, Project Manager at CSR.

Upon arrival, Prospective learners and their parents the opportunity to interact with SU's recruitment team and get all their questions regarding programme requirements, applications, accommodation and bursaries answered.

The evening continued with an addressment from the engineering faculty's dean, Professor Hansie Knoetze. Prof Knoetze used the hour to enlighten the future engineering students of possible paths they could take to make their career dreams a reality. Students left the venue feeling excited and ready to embark on their matric year ahead, with the goal of studying engineering in their near future.
