The website www.sun.ac.za/welcome is the one stop destination for everything new Maties should know about Stellenbosch University's welcoming programme scheduled for January 2017. A specific schedule of activities is also available.
While Stellenbosch Universit officially reopens on 3 January 2017, the welcoming programme kicks off on 19 January 2017. The official welcoming event for students and their parents/guardians will be the same evening at 18:00 to 19:00 at the Danie Craven Stadium at Coetzenburg. Various other events have also been scheduled for the day, including a meet and greet for parents with the deans of the various faculties.

Take note of the different degree programmes' mandatory faculty sessions, national benchmark tests and when registration take place, as well as when the clusters, PSO-wards (Private student organisations) or residences will be gathering. This is especially important for the first two days: Thursday, 19 January and Friday, 20 January.

The website also includes important information about the Library and Information Service; how you can register; transport during the welcoming period; parking arrangements for the first day; information sessions for students with special learning needs; the different support services as well as how to ensure one's safety on campus and in town.

New Maties will receive a printed copy of the welcoming programme at their first cluster, PSO or residence gathering or on arrival at their residence. This programme includes the day-to-day itinerary of the entire Welcoming Programme. The electronic format of that publication will be available on the website in January.
It is important to note that PSO wards and clusters are not places of residence but are community spaces to which you belong. A PSO ward includes a group of students living in private accommodation; and clusters include residences and PSO wards.

The University can be reached at 021 808 9111 and info@sun.ac.za.
