Kobus van Dyk and Edwill van der Merwe were the brightest stars at Steinhoff Maties Rugby's annual awards night.

Van Dyk – who made his debut for the Stormers this season – was named Maties Forward of the Year and the club's Senior Player of the Year. Van Dyk was also named Most Promising Forward at the Western Province Awards evening.

Hot on his heels was the first-year student Van der Merwe, who was named Maties Backline Player of the Year and Junior Club Player of the Year. Like Van Dyk he also received a WP award when he was named the BOUNCE U/21 Player of the Year. Van der Merwe was a member of the South African U/20 team and he and Curwin Bosch were the only South Africans to be included in the World Cup tournament's Dream Team.

The Sevens Player of the Year is Kyle Steyn. He was a member of the victorious Maties Sevens team at both the USSA and Varsity Sports tournaments.

Wilhelm van der Sluys, captain of the Maties team that won the WP President's Cup, was named Club Member of the Year. Van der Sluys played his last game for Maties this year.
